The Gold Mine is used to mine Gold Ore for production of Coins and must be placed on top of a Gold Deposit found by your Geologists.
At this time it is only possible to find a maximum of 8 Gold Deposits, and therefore a maximum of only 8 mines at any one time. Continuous production is difficult due to the large cost of mines and is one of the most important mines to keep Buffed and working as long as possible. When not Buffed you can stop it working to keep production at its best.
As with other production buildings its output can be temporarily increased with a Buff and can be upgraded for the duration of the mine's life with Tools. The Tools upgrade is lost once the mine depletes. Mines can also be replenished with boosts found randomly after Adventures or purchased with Gems from the Store and prolong the life of the mine and its upgrade.
Notice that "double extraction time" does not double walking speed. Therefore, these calculation will be recalculated with a seven minute, not 6.5 minute, average production time.

Ratios[]
Notice these ratios assume at least a constant x2 buff. Otherwise, you need 2 smelters per coinage. Look at Gold Production Chain for specific calculations.
